Discover what Alice Cullen’s life was like before the events seen in the Twilight saga movies
With four titles, the Twilight literary saga is the novel written by Stephenie Meyer which addresses the relationship full of ups and downs of the human Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen, — story told through mysterious arcs, deepened with the help of other great characters, as is the case not only of the Cullen family, but also of the clan Volturi and members of the Quileute tribe, to which Jacob Black belongs.
The plot that emerged on the pages also became a film franchise with 5 films released between 2008 and 2012. Still, for the adaptation of the big screens, the origin of many of these characters that appear to enrich the plot were not told, as happens with Alice Cullen, the vampire who becomes Jasper Cullen’s companion and becomes one of the production’s most adorable figures.
But if you want to know more about Alice, don’t worry! RECREIO gathered below everything you need to know about the character’s past. Check out:
THE ORIGIN OF ALICE CULLEN
Like most members of the Cullen family, Alice didn’t have an easy start. In childhood, the girl who grew up in a small town, had the gift of predicting the future, although in her early years of life, her ability to anticipate what would happen was limited, and could
But as she grew, the skill also improved. With that, she could foresee much deeper situations, one of them being her mother’s imminent death at the hands of a mysterious man – and this is where Alice’s future begins to take shape.
Alice was extremely judged for her predictions, being constantly called crazy, but that didn’t stop her from trying to save her mother. For this, she asked the woman to stay at home, so that she would remain safe. As Alice’s mother was the only one who believed in her daughter, the request was accepted, so she avoided leaving her residence as much as possible.
Still, Alice’s father did not agree with the situation, insisting that his wife ignore the warning, and that his daughter keep her omens to herself. Until one day, Alice’s mother gave in and left the house, fulfilling her daughter’s foreshadowing when she died in a tragic car accident.
After the tragedy, a few days later, Alice’s father remarries and Alice’s visions continue to come. In one of them, the young woman saw her father paying the stranger responsible for her mother’s death.
With that, she tells her relatives what she saw, but without success in her alerts, the young woman is admitted to a psychiatric institution at the behest of her own father, since he did not want her crime to be discovered.
There, Alice was subjected to a traumatic electroshock therapy that resulted in the loss of her memory and the behavior known to the character in the films of the saga.
It was in this same place that the villain of Twilight, James, came up. That’s because Alice was taken care of by a vampire who worked at the place, to which she developed a very strong bond of trust and protection. But, things started to take a new turn when Alice predicted that James would go after her caretaker.
Alice told the man what she had seen, who believed the vision and turned Alice into a vampire, as he alone could not save them. In the fight against James, Alice’s mentor sacrificed himself, so she can have time to escape the villain.
Away from the psychiatric institution, after the trauma, Alice lost her memories of the place and her mentor. But she wouldn’t be alone for long, as she foresaw that she would meet Jasper Cullen, whom she knows and bonds with, causing the two to become the last stepbrothers of the Cullen family.
