INTERVIEW – What enables us to live a happy and healthy life? In The good lifeProfessor Robert Waldinger presents the findings of the longest-ever study of happiness and health.

Who can answer the eternal question: how do we manage to be happy? Robert Waldinger can. This doctor of psychiatry and professor at Harvard Medical School is leading the longest-running scientific study ever conducted on the lives, happiness and health of adults. The Harvard Study of Adult Development, conducted by Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, began in 1938, 85 years ago, with 724 teenagers (286 students from Harvard University and 456 children from the poorest neighborhoods in Boston). Today, the study extended to their partners and 1,300 of their descendants over two generations. Such an amount of scientific data is incredibly rare to know about the life course of thousands of people.
