Jon Favreau, one of the directors of the Marvel films, revealed that Robert Downey Jr. could have been another character and not Iron Man in the MCU
Have you ever imaginedRobert Downey Jr. being another Marvel Cinematic Universe character other than Iron Man? Well believe me, it almost happened! The director Jon Favreau revealed in an interview with the Marvel YouTube channel that the star participated in the casting process for the 2005 film “Fantastic Four”.
And according to the filmmaker’s speech, the actor would play Doctor Destiny, the antagonist of the group of heroes. The paper ended up with Julian McMahon.
I remember you [Marvel] I had already talked him into something like Doctor Doom. He went through Marvel during the Fantastic Four process, so everybody kind of knew who he was,” recalled Favreau.
The director also commented on downey jr. getting the role of Iron Man, and he was full of praise for the actor:
Once we decided it was going to be him, everything got easier. He understood the character’s voice. After him, people approached the project one by one, because he made it look interesting.”
It is worth remembering that the film telling the story of Tony Stark was responsible for marking the beginning of the MCU, which continues to grow to this day. The feature grossed more than $ 585 million at the box office worldwide and earned two sequels. downey jr. brought Iron Man to life in all Marvel productions in which the character appeared.
