The film currently has a 100% rating on critics’ site Rotten Tomatoes. It will be shown in several cities.
The documentary film directed by Mstislav Chernov 20 days in Mariupol will be released in Ukraine. The premiere will take place on June 3 at the DocuDays UA festival. The film will be presented by the director himself.
The film deals with the events during the siege of Mariupol by the Russian army in February-March 2022.
“Mstislav Chernov of The Associated Press and his agency colleagues Evgeny Maloletka and Vasilisa Stepanenko were the last journalists in Mariupol before its final Russian takeover. After 20 days in Mariupol, Chernov got the 30-hour video during the evacuation. With the Frontline team, the longest in the history of the United States documentary film program on PBS (USA) – a full-length tape was made from this material,” the release said.
In Kiev, the screening will take place at 19.30 on June 3, and the next day after the premiere, on June 4, two more screenings will take place – an additional morning screening at 10.30 and an evening screening at 19.30.
The next Ukrainian city after Kyiv, where you can watch 20 days in Mariupol, is Chernivtsi – there the film will be shown on June 19 at the Mykolaichuk OPEN International Festival of Spectator Film.
It will be remembered that earlier the film received the Audience Award at the largest US independent film festival Sundance, the award in the Standing Up category at the 47th Cleveland International Film Festival (USA) and the title of the best documentary of the year in Cinema. for the Peace 2023 award (Germany).
