Filmmaker Jared Bush provided the answer behind the question asked by ‘Enchanto’ fans
The ending of Encanto, Disney’s new animation that just arrived on Disney+, left a big question among fans: after all, why did Mirabel remain the only one of the Madrigal family who didn’t gain powers?
In a recent interview with the Polygon portal, Jared Bush, director of the film, explained the reason behind the decision that raised doubts in countless people around the world. According to the filmmaker, the main reason is that the powers of the family are not the focus of the story.
“I think there are many reasons to identify with Mirabel about being left out or feeling like you are less than others. Rather than some magical reason, I think it’s clear that she’s who she needs to be for a good reason,” she revealed. “This young woman has not been given the same opportunity as her extraordinary family. Empathy has been with her from the beginning. I love that there isn’t an explanation for the lack of powers.”
Encanto tells the story of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who live in a magical house hidden in the mountains, in a wonderful place known as Encanto. Set in Colombia, the production features a 100% Colombian voice cast for the Spanish version, and songs written by the composer, singer, actor and producer Lin-Manuel Miranda.
