G7 leaders said they are taking concrete steps to support Ukraine as long as necessary.
The leaders of the G7 states on Saturday, May 20, agreed on a joint communiqué on the results of the summit in Japan.
The G7 leaders said they were “more united than ever in a determination to tackle the global challenges of the present and pave the way for a better future” in adherence to the UN Charter and international cooperation.
“We are taking concrete steps to support Ukraine as much as necessary against the backdrop of Russia’s illegal war of aggression,” the statement said.
As the G7 leaders noted, they confirm “unwavering support for Ukraine as long as necessary to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace.”
The communiqué also cited a separate statement by the G7 leaders on Ukraine, adopted on May 19, in which they pledged to “increase diplomatic, financial, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine, increase the cost to Russia and to those who support its war effort, and continue to counter the negative effects of war.” for the rest of the world, especially for the most vulnerable.”
In addition, the leaders of the Group of Seven committed themselves to strengthening efforts in the field of global food security and infrastructure development, as well as in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
It can be recalled that the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries called on China to put pressure on Russia to stop its military aggression and withdraw its troops from Ukraine.
It was also reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived on a visit to Japan for the G7 summit.
