DESCRIPTION – When it comes to breakups, some embrace the emotional upheaval, while others sometimes feel like they don’t even feel the pain. How to explain it?
We are not all equal in experiencing the pain associated with the feeling of love. When some break up during a breakup, others brush the pain away, or at least don’t seem to experience it with the same intensity. “Just because someone doesn’t have pain doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings,” says Catherine Demanjo, psychotherapist, sex therapist, and couples therapist (1). Just as we mistakenly believe that the silent one feels less than the demonstrative one, the strength we love is not reflected in the pain we feel during a breakup. So how do you explain that some people rarely allow themselves to be overwhelmed? That we are not all affected in the same way? That we are not experiencing the same shock?
