The docuseries ‘Glee: The Price of Fame’ (The Price Of Glee) finally got a premiere date! The production must be added in the catalog of the HBO Max and available on discovery+ on May 19. On the same date, at 8:30 pm, the first episode will also air on the ID channel.
Glee’ was a unique cultural phenomenon of a generation that bravely challenged social conventions and provoked debates about sexuality, race, disability and family. It is worth remembering that “Glee” was responsible for taking a relatively unknown cast to the international stardom that marked pop culture, but this successful production that, in theory, was the most cheerful and musical program on television was marked by major problems. The rising cast faced numerous scandals, backlash in the press, and fatal tragedies.
With that, the Investigation Discovery production shows in three chapters the backstage of “Glee” and reveals the harsh reality of fame, through what happened behind the film set, as well as the revelation of controversial subjects about the lives of the cast members out of series.
For such revelations, relatives and friends of the cast were interviewed; professionals who worked on set or linked to production, such as set designers, hairdressers, stylists and publicists; and entertainment industry journalists who covered the “Glee” phenomenon, who were able to shed light on the demands involved in being on a TV hit and the dramas faced off-camera.
Among the highlights, it is worth mentioning the chat with people close to the deceased Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson, in the series) that addressed the actor’s international rise and his anguish, which ended with his death from an overdose at the age of 31, in a hotel in British Columbia, Canada. However, cases of Mark Sallingthe portrayal of Puck, the accusation of bullying on set aimed at Lea Michelewho played Rachel Berry, as well as the suspicious death of Naya riveraactress who gave life to Santana Lopez in the plot.
‘Glee: The Price of Fame’ was produced by Ample Entertainment for Investigation Discovery and discovery+. The ID channel will show one episode a week, always on Fridays, at 8:30 pm.
