This year it is the only film representing Ukraine at the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from 16 to 27 May 2023.
The Ukrainian-Polish short film entered the main short film competition of the 76th Cannes Film Festival As it was directors Anastasia Solonevich and Damian Kotsur. This was reported on the festival’s website.
The picture will compete for success with films from Argentina, Colombia, Spain, USA, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Iceland, Norway, Poland and the UK.
The plot of the tape will tell about the events that take place in the winter of 2023 in Kyiv. The heroine of the film returned home from abroad, for the first time since the start of the war in Ukraine.
In particular, the main character Lera lives in Berlin for almost a year after the start of the war in Ukraine. He did not feel well there, so he decided to return to his homeland. On the way to Kyiv, he learned that his family was not in the capital and would only arrive the next day. Therefore, the heroine meets her friend Cyril, with whom she spends the day as before a full-fledged invasion. In the morning, Lera meets her mother and sister and finally feels at home. But he still doubts whether he will stay in Kyiv or return to Berlin.
Earlier it was reported that the debut film of the Ukrainian director Kristina Tinkevich How about Katya? won two awards at the 75th International Film Festival.
