George Clooney has revealed that Mark Wahlberg and Johnny Depp are among the actors who now “regret” not joining the cast of Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 comedy Ocean’s Eleven.
Clooney — who starred in the film alongside the likes of Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia and Julia Roberts — joined Soderbergh at the TCM Film Festival, where he talked about the two’s roles in the film transitioning, Entertainment reported. Weekly.
“People really wanted to work with Steven,” said Clooney, who referenced the director’s previous films “Erin Brockovich” and “Traffic.”
“Some very famous people have told us to go now. We went to their house and sat with them.”
“Mark Wahlberg is one of them. He said it,” TCM host Ben Mankiewicz responded.
“Johnny Depp,” Clooney continued. “There were others. brother [Luke and] Owen Wilson. Oh, now they repent, yes, “Oh, I repent.” Sorry for ruining “Batman”.

Wahlberg dropped out of the film “due to scheduling conflicts,” ABC News reported at the time. Wahlberg, who was supposed to play Linus Caldwell in the film, told Zoo Today in 2008 that he “deserved” to walk away from the project because “the second one was awful.”
“People tell George Clooney he’s great, but we all know he was awful,” Wahlberg said.
“Instead, I did two bad movies – ‘Planet of the Apes’ and ‘The Truth About Charlie’ – but doing it was better than sitting around with Brad and George, telling the press how great everyone is! “We went to Europe, George was fun, then we drank some wine…” – not for me. I love these guys, but I had to go out on my own.
Clooney told E! News in 2012 that he and Soderbergh met with Depp before the film, although the actor turned down the role because “it was for an Englishman and he didn’t want to do it”.
The roles of the Malloy twins were supposed to go to Luke Wilson and Owen Wilson, but the two were already busy working on Wes Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums,” according to Variety in 2000.
