Returning to the stage
Despite this being BLACKPINK’s first time at the event as headliners, the group has performed at Coachella before. The show took place in 2019, where they performed big hits like DDU-DU DDU-DU, Whistle and BOOMBAYAH, in addition to the solo debut of jenniethe single ‘SOLO’, released that same year.
I think playing Coachella in 2019 was a moment that really woke us up as BLACKPINK – to be motivated, to dream and dream big. But we never expected anything as big as headlining a festival that we all grew up admiring and hoping that one day we could find ourselves in the crowd.”
Given this experience, Jisooidol who recently debuted as a soloist with the release of “Flower”, revealed what are the expectations to return to the stage with even greater responsibility:
Coachella 2019 was full of fascination and excitement, but we have no idea what Coachella 2023 will look like. We try all the time to show a new side of ourselves at every stage to reciprocate the BLINKs’ affection. It’s an honor to headline Coachella; we want to show our improvement as BLACKPINK on stage – and we will – so stay tuned.”
Formed by YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK emerged in 2016 with jennie, Jisoo, Rose It is Lisa in their training. Still, the girl group won’t be the only representative of Korean popular music present at the festival, as jackson wangfrom GOT7 and the soloists DPR Live It is DPR Ian will also represent the K-Pop and K-Hip-Hop industry with performances on Sundays, the 16th and 23rd.
