On Sunday night, the 9th, Mnet revealed the first teaser for its newest survival show “Queendom Puzzle”, a spin-off of the hit reality show “Queendom”, which features presentation battles between female idols.
During the teaser, it is possible to check the presence of songs sung by some girlgroups already renowned in the industry, such as BLACKPINK, Girls’ Generation, LE SSERAFIM, WJSN, (G)I-DLE, Oh My Girl, STAYC, IZ*ONE and Red Velvet, in addition to a mysterious code present at the end: “IURP WZHQWB HLJKW WR VHYHQ”. The new program, however, presents a different proposal. This time, instead of groups and soloists competing in a “battle of comebacks”, the reality show intends to bring together girlgroup members to compete with each other in order to form a new female group for a special project.
According to information released by the Soompi portal, one of the great highlights of “Queendom Puzzle” is that the public will have the unique opportunity to check out group performances with different formations of their favorite idols in each round, until the choice of the grand finalists.
As stated by the reality production team, “[O show] it will be a time to rediscover the individualities and charms of each member of pre-existing girl groups. Viewers will be able to find entertainment in the new combinations [de diferentes membros de grupos femininos]. We will reveal the lineup of participating artists, which will shock everyone, in May”.
“Queendom”, the program responsible for inspiring “Queendom Puzzle”, had its first edition in 2019, with the participation of five groups and a soloist. They were: Park Bom (2NE1), (G)I-DLE, MAMAMOO, Oh My Girl, AOA and Lovelyz. Through the votes from the live broadcast of the finals, the MAMAMOO members became the big winners of their debut season.
The second season of “Queendom” featured performances by groups LOONA, Kep1er, WJSN, VIVIZ and Brave Girls, as well as soloist Hyolyn. The group responsible for taking the title of queens of Queendom was the WJSN (Cosmic Girls).
