“The Daily Show” correspondent Roy Wood Jr. posed as the bailiff who oversaw actor Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski collision trial and won. (Watch the video below.)
The piece combined actual scenes from the civil trial — in which the Oscar winner is accused of crashing into a man on a hillside in Park City, Utah, causing permanent injuries — and Wood in a bailiff’s uniform as if presiding .
Wood remembers being in “the white man’s yard” – “make me straighten up”. She tries to remain neutral as Paltrow answers a lawyer’s questions about her “expensive vacation,” missing half a day of skiing due to the accident and “lunch and massage.”
“Celebrities need their own justice system instead of wasting my time,” grumbles Wood’s bailiff. “I have a murder-suicide at 2. Come on, hurry up.”
But his aggravation only increases.
“That’s the whitest shit I’ve ever heard,” he says. “I need to watch all of Madea’s movies and get myself together.”
