Created in 2013 by the journalist Jon Negronithe Pixar Theory is responsible for uniting all the animations ever released by the studio into a single universe, based on easter eggs and the plots of each film — being confirmed by Pixar itself that, in fact, the feature films coexist in the same world .
With each release, fans are extremely anxious to find out where the new production will fit within the timeline of theory, making this universe increasingly complex — and that’s exactly what happened with “Red: Growing up is a Beast”.
Released in 2022 on Disney+, “Red” tells the story of Mei Lee, a 13-year-old girl torn between remaining an obedient daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her mother Ming is an overprotective and somewhat authoritarian person who is never far from her daughter, which is a sad reality for the teenager. And as if the changes in her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever she experiences strong emotions (which is pretty much always the case), she transforms into a giant red panda.
To date, it has not yet been confirmed where the production officially fits into the Pixar Theory, however, the ScreenRant website has carried out an analysis that can explain this long-awaited issue by fans.
2000’s
According to the portal, everything can be explained only with the year in which the film is set: 2002. Taking this into account, “Red: Growing up is a Beast” can fit between the events of the first two “Toy Story” films and “Finding Nemo”, and before “Ratatouille”.
In addition, magic can also be another key point that connects “Red” to other Pixar films, since, if we stop to think about it, the red panda ritual that takes someone to the astral plane can also be understood as the life after death, something addressed in the feature film “Soul”, from 2020.
