Discover a series of actions and decisions seen in ‘Hercules’ that may raise eyebrows
Released in 1997, ‘Hercules’ is the title of Disney’s animation that addresses the story of the son of Zeus, the most powerful deity of the Greek pantheon, who was captured as a baby by Hades and forced to live among mortals, but who in adolescence finds the opportunity to live among the gods of Mount Olympus again.
Despite having become one of the classics of the studio co-founded by walt disney, the animation presents points that raise doubts among fans to this day. Were you curious? RECREIO presents you with 5 facts that make no sense in ‘Hercules’. Check out!
1. Zeus
Zeus is the most powerful god on Mount Olympus, yet he does nothing to reverse ‘Hercules’ situation when the god of the underworld, Hades, condemns him to live on earth among mankind. Shouldn’t the power of the two gods be equivalent? If so, why didn’t Zeus intervene?
Also, the initial plan was for Hercules to be killed, but Pain and Panic don’t do the job. With that, the gods start looking for Hercules and discover that he now lives as a mortal. But why didn’t Zeus also get involved in the hunt? Or how did he not find out about Hercules’ whereabouts until he was a teenager? Animation answers none of these questions.
2. The Criteria for Becoming a God
Hercules becomes a God after sacrificing himself to save Meg’s life in the River Styx. But before that, he had spared the lives of a lot more people by saving an entire city during the battle with the Hydra, so why couldn’t he climb Mount Olympus at that very moment?
The doubt arises because the criteria for becoming a God are not so clear in the film, since he may not have become a deity for the motivation of the action, or even because he was not on the verge of death.
3. Hades didn’t try to get rid of Hercules sooner
Known as the god of the underworld, Hades possesses an immeasurable source of power, even if he didn’t use it very cleverly. That’s because, the villain could have tried to get rid of Hercules much earlier, since that was always his goal, but why didn’t he do that?
4. Hades didn’t protect Meg
Willing to preserve Meg’s life, Hercules makes a deal with Hades: he would give up becoming a god if the villain did not harm the girl. However, should Meg suffer any injury, the deal would be broken, and Hercules would regain his powers.
With that in mind, why hadn’t Hades gone out of his way to keep Meg safe? He could have easily won in the end if he had cared about that part of the deal.
5. Hercules ceasing to be a god
After successfully becoming a god, Hercules chose to remain on earth with Meg, causing the divine aura that accompanied him to lose its shine, implying that he had become mortal.
The action is considered one of the great doubts of the animation, because, couldn’t Hercules remain a god on earth? Was Meg’s love responsible for condemning him to live as a human?
