‘Star Wars’ had its first film released in 1977, and until today it is a success
Last Thursday, the 9th, the president of Disney, Bob Iger, during a conversation with investors, commented a little about the future of the company. At the time, as The Hollywood Reporter found out and the Omelete website reported, in addition to talking about the Marvel and the reduction of films and series, Bob also commented on the continuation of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
During the presentation, iger he said:
On Star Wars, we’ve made three films, which are obviously the successors to George Lucas’ first six. They did really well at the box office – tremendously well, actually.”
The executive further said:
We did two spinoffs in Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Rogue One did really well, Solo was a little underwhelming for us.”
Furthermore, bob he even said that after the failure, he began to be more cautious with future films in the franchise:
It gave us pause only to think maybe the cadence was a little too aggressive and so we decided to back off a bit. We are still developing Star Wars movies. We’re going to make sure that when we do one, it’s the right one, so we’re being very careful.”
Not long ago, Variety even reported that two relevant ‘Star Wars’ projects have been put on hold and are out of active development. They are: the version of Patty Jenkins and that of Kevin Feige
