The Duke of Sussex opened up about his use of hallucinogenic substances in a video interview broadcast this Saturday, March 4. And how they helped him overcome certain injuries.
Prince without any taboo. Harry opened up about his psychiatric drug use in an online chat with trauma therapist Gabor Mate on Saturday, March 4. The Duke of Sussex, 38, has revealed that certain substances such as marijuana or ayahuasca have been instrumental in helping him overcome past traumas, likening their effects to “cleaning a pane of glass” that helps “remove life’s filters”.
“It brought me a sense of calmness, lightness, comfort, lightness that I was able to maintain for some time,” he confided to this Canadian doctor, adding: it was for me. I would say it was one of the fundamental things in my life that changed me and helped me overcome past trauma and pain. They open up a lot of what we took out.”
This is not the first time that Meghan Markle’s husband has admitted to using drugs. He revealed that he took other substances as a teenager, including cocaine and marijuana, in his highly controversial memoir. The alternativepublished in January.
Harry also spoke to Gabor Mate about feeling “a bit different from the rest [sa] family” throughout his life and upbringing. “I know my mother felt the same way. And so it makes sense to me.” He explained about the difficulties of his relationship with the royal family. “A lot of families are complicated, a lot of families are dysfunctional,” he said, detailing how he sometimes feels misunderstood and not supported enough by those around him. “When I went to therapy regularly, I suddenly realized that I had learned a new language and that the people around me did not speak it. in fact, I felt more neglected.”
