The winners of the 73rd Berlin Film Festival, which also featured a Ukrainian film, have been announced.
The main award of the 73rd Berlin Film Festival – the Golden Bear – was received by the documentary film “On Adamante” by French director Nicolas Philibert, reports Radio Liberty.
The film is based on a Parisian care center for adults with mental illnesses.
Sofia Otero won Best Leading Role for her role in 20,000 Kinds of Bees as an 8-year-old girl searching for her gender identity.
Angela Chanelek’s film “Music” won the Best Screenplay award. Philippe Garrel was named Best Director for The Great Chariot.
The program of the current Berlin Film Festival also includes the documentary “Eastern Front” about the Russian war in Ukraine. It was presented at the Berlinale on February 24. It is the only Ukrainian film that took part in one of the festival’s two main competitions. It was shot by two directors – Vitaly Mansky, who was born in Ukraine and now lives in Latvia, and Evgeny Titarenko from Ukraine.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke at the Berlinale on February 16.
