‘Mummies and the Lost Ring’, an animated film by the Spanish director Juan Jesus Garcia Galoch, tells the adventures of three ancient Egyptian mummies who live in a secret underground city hidden in ancient Egypt. The trio consists of neferprincess dreaming of becoming a singer, thisformer horse and cart racer sekhemhis younger brother and owner Crocsa baby crocodile he keeps as a pet.
After experiencing several sad events, the mummies decide to go to the world of the living to find themselves in modern London and go on a fun journey in search of an ancient ring belonging to the royal family, which was stolen by an ambitious archaeologist. Lord Carnaby.
The filmmakers spoke to RPP news and gave some details about how the idea was born to make an animated film that would be universal and work for the four quadrants of the public: families, children, youth and adults.
“It started in a Madrid bakery. We had been wanting to make a film about a mummy for a long time, and at that moment the idea came to my mind that Valentino Rossi or Michael Schumacher of that time were going to marry the princess, but the archaeologist Villain stole his ring. I told my partners and they liked the idea. During a trip to Los Angeles, I told Warner Brothers that they wanted to make a film,” said Jordi Gasull, the film’s writer and producer.
The film’s biggest problem
From the moment you create the first sketch to the creation of the projection fileMummies and the Lost Ringit took almost four years to create. One of the biggest challenges, according to the filmmakers, was for the project to have OK representatives Muslim culture.
“The challenge was to make a film that would be universal and at the same time loved by the Muslim world. I remember that before getting a pass in front of the Muslim censorship in Egypt, I was very nervous, because we worked hard and we did not know if I would have achieved this or not. We did it with a lot of love and respect, we went to Egypt, we documented ourselves and I think it shows in the film,” Gasall recounts in detail.
The tape has a musical undertone reminiscent of traditional animated films, but with a modern 3D aesthetic. ABOUT, Pedro Solisthe feature film screenwriter and Goya winner for the animated short film Cuerdas, said there are some cinematic references in Mummies and the Lost Ring, some deliberately and others subconsciously.
“We always use references from both animated films and live-action films. It has a very specific Pretty Woman moment. I think at the end of the day we’re pressure cookers, you keep making movies, and then there comes a time when it blows up and there are references to a lot of movies that we like,” he said. Juan Jesus García Galocha, film director:Mummies and the Lost Ring’ breaks the ‘boy saves girl’ pattern or vice versa to give both characters equal power on screen. The love story is not the main plot of any of the characters; on the contrary, each of them must make their dreams come true, overcome their problems and take responsibility for their lives.
“What we were trying to convey was the value of friendship, teamwork and, above all, self-confidence. In addition, following Nefer’s dreams and overcoming Turt’s fears are also other values that are on the agenda. I think that’s what the film offers as a whole,” explained García Galocha, who took on the project after serving as artistic director on films such as The Adventures of Tadeo Jones and The Adventures of Tadeo Jones.Tadeo Jones 2: The Mystery of King Midas’.
‘Mummies and the Lost Ringwas released this week in theaters in Peru thanks to Warner Bros.
