Responding to criticism of her physical appearance following her appearance at the Grammys, the singer shared a new photo of herself on Twitter with an accompanying caption.
Two weeks after the 2023 Grammy Awards, Madonna isn’t done fighting her critics. The next day in the evening, the singer responds with humor after the unflattering expressions on social networks and mass media. “Look how beautiful I look now that the swelling from the surgery has gone down. Lol,” she wrote in a tweet posted on Monday, February 20, alongside a photo of herself looking into the camera. The sarcastic tone of the message and the accompanying funny crying emoji suggest that this is not a surgical “keeling” that should be taken literally.
“Ageism” and “misogyny”
The rant echoes his last words to those who harassed him after the Grammy Awards. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, February 8, Madonna lamented that her stage presence has been overshadowed by criticism of her physical appearance. “Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech (…), many people chose to talk only about the close-up photos of me taken by a press photographer who would distort his ‘never face’ face.” upset, referring to the pictures published by the tabloids after the evening. The latter used them to illustrate articles, in particular, about his physical transformation and possible aesthetic surgeries, calling him “unrecognizable”.

Raising her voice, she then denounced the “ageism” and “misogyny” that “permeates” our society, condemning “a world that refuses to celebrate women over 45 and that feels the need to punish her if she continues to be strong, tough a working and adventurous woman. And I will conclude. “I’ve never apologized for the creative choices I’ve made, neither my appearance, nor my dressing, and I’m not going to start.”
