The Ukrainian animated film Unnecessary Things directed by Dmitry Lisenbart won the Prague Film Awards independent short film festival. It was reported in Goskino.
It noted that the cartoon, based on the story Robert Sheckley’s Vintage Fancy Shop, was declared the winner “in recognition of meeting the highest standards of excellence in the category.”
As for the plot, it tells the story of a work named Rob. One day he was walking in the city and in the window of the Junk Shop he saw an old man named Robert sitting in a chair. Next to it is a For sale sign.
The store owner said the item was for sale. The robot wants to have a friend, so he makes a purchase and receives a receipt.
Robert explains that now Rob has taken care of him and now he has to give him a roof over his head and food, and also make sure he doesn’t get bored. So the robot and the man began to live together.
It was previously reported that the film directed by Philip Sotnichenko La Palisiada received the Fipresci award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
