Johnny Knoxville couldn’t resist: he just had to reveal where the next season of “The White Lot” will take place.
In an interview with Vulture on Thursday, the “Jackass” star was reflecting on the cancellation of “Reboot,” a Hulu comedy that marked Knoxville’s first regular role, when reporter Devon Ivie said he should join the HBO series.
“Are you kidding me? Mike White is a good friend of mine,” Knoxville told the press, referring to the show’s creator. “He and I went to Tokyo together. I think that’s where the next one is… I don’t care, I might call it again as soon as it’s over.
It’s unclear whether “The White Lot,” which exploited themes of wealth and privilege in its first two seasons, will actually head to Japan. It would certainly mark a change from previous settings in Italy and Hawaii, but Tokyo’s vibrant nightlife could be an interesting backdrop for the series.
White, who recently accepted a Golden Globe for Best Limited Series, has already hinted at what’s to come. In a report on the season 2 finale, he even referenced the Far East, potentially confirming his crush on Knoxville.

“Season 1 is the money, and then Season 2 is the sex,” White said. “I think Season 3 could be a satirical and humorous look at death in Eastern religion and spirituality. It looks like it could be a rich tapestry to make another run at White Lotus.
The series, which follows a new group of neurotic guests each season at different branches of the titular hotel, has become a flagship series for HBO. In particular, it revived the career of Jennifer Coolidge, giving her a Golden Globe last month.
“You have changed my life in a million different ways,” Coolidge said in his acceptance speech. “My neighbors talk to me, stuff like that. I’m not serious! None of these people have ever been invited to a party on my hill, and now everyone is inviting me!”
The future of the show has been kept under wraps for now, although there have been hints that the cast from seasons one and two may return. Connie Britton, for example, told Deadline last year that her character might stay at White Lotus again.
“[White] I wanted to be in season two and it was an idea that I liked for the character,” he told the media. “We hope to succeed [do] than in the third season. I would love to see a spin off for every character on that show.
