Brad Pitt doesn’t seem to mind sharing the spotlight with Ryan Reynolds.
How country-pop singer Shania Twain took the stage last month at People’s Choice Awards to sing the classic hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” he surprised the audience with a catchy twist when he changed Reynolds’ name to his famous Brad Pitt line.
“OK, so you’re Ryan Reynolds,” Twain sang.
“That doesn’t impress me much. So you’ve got the look, but you’ve got the touch? he added as the camera focused on Reynolds.
During a recent promotional interview for “Babylon,” Pitt was jokingly asked if he felt Reynolds stole his shine after Twain replaced his name with that of the “Spirited” actor — and Pitt gave the perfect answer.
Laughing, Pitt replied, “I didn’t steal it. I think we can share the wealth.
“Yeah, and Ryan’s a good egg,” Pitt added with a smile. “He deserves some love.”
Pitt was so supportive of the viral name-swapping that, elsewhere in the interview, he dropped other Hollywood names he thinks deserve their own lyrical shout-outs from Twain.
“I think he should pass it on and next time he can sing for Austin Butler,” Pitt added. “Maybe Leo [DiCaprio] between.”
At the time of Twain’s rendition, Reynolds — who received the People’s Icon Award that night — seemed pretty excited about the lyric change. Grinning in surprise, he seemed to say, “Oh my God, me?” before bursting into laughter.
Following the event, the Canadian actor said in an Instagram story that the moment “might be the best thing that ever happened to me.” AND! The news has been reported.
Twain seemed to enjoy mocking Reynolds as she did he posted on Twitter“Sorry, not sorry @VancityReynolds,” as she shared a clip of her now-viral performance the next day.
Meanwhile, Reynolds continued Chirp: “I can’t think of a more iconic, smart and beautiful person who doesn’t impress so much.”
“Thanks for an amazing night @ShaniaTwain,” she added alongside a heart emoji.
Twain’s sixth studio album, Queen of Me, will debut on February 3rd.
