An analysis is made of dissident movements, stories of Ukrainian revolutions, presidential speeches, sketches of the 95th Quarter, the Servant of the People series, and sociological surveys of our country’s citizens.
“This book is about what we decided to call the “Zelensky effect”: about the Ukrainian civic nation, from which, in fact, this Zelensky came out. That it is a country where citizens are involved in civic duty, in social activity. And not only since 91-years, but also from the time of dissidents and earlier. And in fact, like a civil nation created, born Volodymyr Zelensky and others other people of his generation,” said Onukh.
He added that the book is not only about a civil country, but also about Zelensky as a leader who was able to introduce people to it who, even before 2019, did not see themselves as part of it. In particular, the Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the south-eastern regions.
“We asked ordinary Ukrainians how they can join the defense of Ukraine. And there are answers to choose from: participation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, volunteering, donations. And there are wonderful things that we mention in the book. For example, a man in some village in Central Ukraine wrote that he cooked a hearty Ukrainian soup and brought it to the Armed Forces of Ukraine so that the men would have something to eat. Another replied that they milked the young goats, which gave more nutritious milk, in order. to bring it to the forest to the Ukrainian soldiers,” said Onukh.
