The production of ‘The Princess Diaries 3’ was confirmed almost two decades after the arrival of the franchise’s first sequel. About this, Anne Hathawaythe interpreter of Mia Thermopolis in the plot, opened his heart in an interview with People magazine during his appearance at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, and told how he felt about the long wait for another continuation.
We feel exactly the same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating,” she said of the delay in starting production on the third film. “But it’s a process that takes patience, and so everyone should consider themselves part of the movie business right now, because that’s how long it really takes to get things done.”
The names of the new cast have yet to be announced. Even so, Hathaway and Heater MatarazzoLilly’s interpreter, expressed their willingness to return to the roles in statements given in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
In contrast, Julie Andrews, the actress who gives life to Queen Clarisse, discarded her participation in the feature. “I think we know it probably won’t be possible,” she revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, stating that it took a long time for them to announce a sequel to the story.
‘The Princess Diaries’ is a film franchise produced by Disney. The first feature film hit theaters in 2001, featuring the story of a clumsy girl who discovers that she is the main heir to the throne of a small kingdom called Genovia. The film received a sequel in 2004 entitled ‘The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement’.
With script signed by Aadrita Mukerji‘The Princess Diaries 3’ also features the return of Debra Martin Chase, producer of the first two films. There is still no confirmation on who will be responsible for directing the sequel.
