Commemorative covers celebrate 100 years of the Walt Disney Company, which will take place this year
In celebration of its 100th anniversary this year, the walt disney company will celebrate Disney100. On that occasion, in partnership with Disney, Marvel Comics will have a program that will feature variant covers, where, on a monthly and special basis, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and other characters from Disney history will be presented.
The Disney100 variant program is intended to celebrate Marvel’s past, present and future through the classic “What If” lens, reinterpreting comic book covers that are classics from the production company. The merge will showcase characters who were iconic in Disney history in some of the pivotal moments of the Marvel mythos.
Among these moments considered important are the Infinity Guntlet event of the 90s, the debut of the lineup of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, which had relevant importance in the 2000s in new Avengers # 1, and the transformative journey that Tony Stark went through in the pages of invincible Iron Man. The commemorative collection will feature 12 covers in total, and in addition, fans can expect Disney100 variant covers to hit newsstands and local comic stores monthly. Also, variant covers can be found in future and select issues of Amazing Spider-Man.
