In April, the model explained in a YouTube video that she had been rushed to hospital the previous month with “stroke-like symptoms” caused by a blood clot in her brain while having breakfast with her husband , Justin Bieber, in Palm Springs. California.

In that video, she recalled feeling a “weird sensation” in her right arm and numbness in her fingertips before being admitted to the hospital.

“I struggled with a lot of anxiety after that. I’ve been struggling with a little bit of PTSD, like the fear that maybe it will happen again,” she shared. during the last episode of “Walking with VogueThursday podcasts.

Bieber – who later underwent a closed foramen ovale procedure to repair a hole in her heart – was candid about how “terrifying” the experience was.

“It was just a feeling that I was like I never want to experience it again. It was so terrifying, so shocking, so disorienting in every way you can imagine,” recalls the founder of Rhode Beauty.

Calling the mini-stroke “definitely the scariest thing I’ve ever been through,” she added that returning to Palm Springs after suffering a medical emergency was “very triggering” for her.

Although she has visited the area many times since the incident, including while recording the podcast episode, she admitted it wasn’t easy and felt “weird”.

“Even the first two times I came back here after that were kind of weird, kind of a trigger for me, because you remember exactly how it all happened at the time,” he explained.

She added: “But I think the good part for me is that it made me realize that I had this hole in my heart.”

Bieber said she’s “just now starting to get out of that fight-or-flight kind of feeling of being nervous that something bad is going to happen again” after battling anxious thoughts about her future health.

“I look back on it and it could have been a lot worse,” he pointed out.

Elsewhere in the interview, Bieber said that while she was “willing to talk about the experience if it could help someone else,” it was initially “very difficult to talk about it.”

“The YouTube video I made for my YouTube channel was also difficult for me. It brings back the sensations of living that experience. It gets easier over time to be able to talk about it.

She added: “I’m so thankful that I was able to have amazing doctors and nurses and people who helped me get to the bottom of what really happened.”
