The actions of the Russian Federation, which destroyed a number of Ukraine’s tank farms and refineries, led to a difficult situation in the fuel market.
The situation with a shortage of fuel will be resolved within a week, said on Friday, April 29, First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko.
“In the next seven days, the deficit will be eliminated, because the operators have contracted volumes in Western Europe and now we are resolving the issue of how to import them into the territory of Ukraine as soon as possible,” wrote he on Facebook.
The Deputy Prime Minister warned that this situation will lead to a slight increase in the price of petroleum products. “This is mainly due to the higher cost of logistics due to complex routes and the use of several modes of transportation,” he explains.
Sviridenko recalled that due to the war in Ukraine, the excise tax on fuel was canceled and VAT was reduced from 20% to 7%.
He added that Russia has contributed to the fuel shortage crisis by destroying the Kremenchuk oil refinery, which is the main producer of fuel in Ukraine, as well as a number of oil depots of market operators with large fuel supply.
It was previously reported that large queues were lined up at gas stations in Kyiv. Fuel is sold in limited quantities, not all brands are available.
