As soon as the work of the energy system normalizes, the supply of electricity from the nuclear power plant will continue, Energoatom assured.
All units of the Rivne, Pivdennoukrainsk and Khmelnytsky nuclear power plants were shut down due to a frequency drop in the Ukrainian energy system after another Russian rocket attack. This was announced by NAEK Energoatom on Wednesday, November 23.
“At Rivne, Pivdennoukrainsk and Khmelnytsky NPPs, emergency protection worked, as a result of which all power units were automatically turned off. They work in design mode, without generation in the power system,” said the message.
It is indicated that the background radiation at the NPP sites and nearby areas has not changed. All indicators are normal.
Also, due to the reduction in frequency, the supply of electricity to Zaporizhzhya NPP’s own needs from the power system was stopped. The station went into full blackout mode. All diesel generators are operational. Background radiation at the ZNPP site remains normal.
“As soon as the work of the energy system returns to normal, the supply of electricity from the nuclear power plant will continue,” Energoatom assured.
Earlier it became known about the shutdown of power units at two nuclear power plants – Khmelnitsky and Pivdennoukrainskaya.
Recall that after the missile strike by the Russian aggressors, Kyiv and many regions of Ukraine were left without electricity. Emergency power outages have been introduced across the country, lasting at least a day.
