Before the general war, a third of the agricultural products exported were sent through the ports of Nikolaev, the head of the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy notes.
Ukraine turned to international partners with a proposal to involve the port of Nikolaev in the “grain agreement”, which will significantly increase the export of agricultural products. This was announced by the head of the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Alexander Gaidu, the press service of BP reports.
“Before the general war, a third of the exported agricultural products were sent through the ports of Nikolaev. Under the current conditions, this could be an additional 2-2.5 million tons of agricultural exports every month. Therefore, involving the ports of Nikolaev in the grain initiative is fair, important and very necessary for the city and its residents and farmers,” said Gaidu.
At the same time, the head of the committee said that such a decision may have security risks.
“Until the Armed Forces of Ukraine expel the invaders from the Kinburn Spit, the danger to ports and ships will remain,” Gaidu said.
Currently, Ukraine exports grain from the ports of Greater Odessa: Odessa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny.
It was previously reported about the extension of the “grain agreement” for 120 days.
