Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke on the phone with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. On Friday, November 18, Anadolu reported with reference to the Liaison Office of the Presidential Administration of Turkey.
It is indicated that the leaders of the two countries discussed bilateral relations and regional processes with an emphasis on the “grain agreement”. Erdogan thanked Russia’s Putin for the constructive position on the issue of extending this deal for 120 days.
The Turkish leader also said that prolonging the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine increases the risks, and therefore it is important to continue diplomatic negotiations. In this regard, Erdogan welcomed the November 14 talks in Ankara between the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Sergei Naryshkin, and the director of the CIA, William Burns. He called this meeting “the key” to preventing escalation.
In this regard, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the reality of the negotiations between Putin and Erdogan, Interfax reports. He added that the President of the Russian Federation was scheduled to have another telephone conversation today, but did not specify with whom. In addition, Putin is scheduled to hold a meeting with members of the Russian Security Council on Friday.
Earlier, Peskov said that “if necessary, Putin and Erdogan coordinate their talks for several hours” and they established continuous communication.
On the eve of Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that neither the United States nor the Russian Federation does not intend to use nuclear weapons. He referred to the information of the Turkish special services.
