“The volume of natural gas consumption in October reached 29.6 million cubic meters, which is 57% less than in October 2021. Compared to September 2022, October consumption increased by 2.2 million cubic meters, or 8% ,” Cheban wrote.
At the same time, he noted that JSC Thermoelectrica (the leading supplier of electricity and heat in Chisinau) switched to working with fuel oil, and not with natural gas.
Ceban added that the total payment level for natural gas consumed this year as of October 31, 2022 reached 9.731 billion lei (more than 507 million dollars) and covered 99.3% of the supply.
It will be remembered that last week Moldova for the first time in history used the reverse for the import of gas from west to east.
It was also reported that in November, Gazprom reduced gas supplies to Moldova by 50% – up to 5.7 million cubic meters of gas per day. The Russian monopolist explained this by alleged technical problems associated with transit through Ukraine.
