Norwegian gas can now be sent to Poland via the Danish gas system, Energinet said.
Norway begins delivering natural gas through the new Baltic Pipe to Denmark. This was announced by the Danish national transmission system operator of the electricity and gas company Energinet on Tuesday, November 1.
It was noted that the gas receiving terminal at Nybro in West Jutland was put into operation.
“Norwegian gas started flowing through the Baltic Pipe on Tuesday. Half of the total capacity (6,700 MWh/h) so far. This means that Norwegian gas is now flowing through the new Baltic Pipe gas pipeline and can be sent to Poland via the Danish gas system,” the message said.
Initially, the terminal receiving gas from the Norwegian gas pipeline Europipe II was supposed to be commissioned on October 8, but due to technical problems, the date was postponed twice.
“It is a great relief for us that we have launched the Nybro terminal. Many colleagues inside and outside Energinet have struggled to achieve success, and we are very sorry that we had to admit on several occasions that we could not achieve it within the stated timelines,” – said Torben Brabu, director of international relations at Energinet.
Remember, on October 27, the opening ceremony of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline was held in Gdansk, Poland. It will supply 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Norway to Poland via Denmark. In the early days, Danish gas flowed through the pipeline.
It was also noted that Ukraine will be able to import up to 1 billion cubic meters of gas through the Baltic Pipe.
