Food insecurity continues to affect large numbers of Peruvians, reducing household consumption levels due to rising prices.
Review Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP) indicates that, given rising prices, about six out of ten Peruvian families have been forced to cut back on their food intake.
The result is given after 34.3% indicated that feeding in their home, it decreased a lot, and 22.3% indicated that it decreased slightly. Only 56.6% of families admitted that they consume less than last year.
The situation is more serious for socioeconomic levels D and E, where about seven out of 10 families have reduced their food intake.
It is worth noting that, according to the survey, 13.6% of Peruvians also stated that they ate food in Popular diningcommunal cauldron, parish or community dining room due to rising prices
Food consumption remained without problems only in 11% of families, while in 27.3%, consumption remained the same, but with lower expenses.
Most of those who supported their consumption by sacrificing accounts belong to NSE A/B, as four out of 10 families were affected in these cases.
