Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister of Great Britain, after the resignation of Liz Truss, can again compete for this post.
The former leader of the Conservative Party intends to participate in the election of the prime minister and believes that this is a matter of “national interests.” Now Johnson is already receiving signals from his fans. The ex-official himself believes that he can again lead the British government. This is reported by The Times, citing several conservatives.
Meanwhile, the authoritative service YouGov published a survey of members of the Conservative Party for October 17-18. The results show that a majority (32%) want Johnson to lead the government. This candidacy is supported by every third conservative. Another 23% see former Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak as the new prime minister, and 10% see incumbent Defense Secretary Ben Wallace as the new prime minister.
In addition, it is Truss voters who are especially interested in the return of Johnson – 44% of them name his successor.
Most Conservatives believe that Johnson (63%), Wallace (62%), Sunak (60%) and House of Commons leader Penny Mordaunt (54%) will do best in the role of prime minister.
Recall, on October 20, Liz Truss announced her resignation from the post of Prime Minister of Great Britain, because “she cannot fulfill the mandate for which I was elected by the Conservative Party.”
