Most foreign brands have stopped replenishing warehouses in Russia with their products, notes the Association of European Businesses.
The automotive market in Russia decreased by almost 60%. Among the sales leaders is Lada – the only budget offer, as well as the Russian GAZ, UAZ and Chinese brands with their crossovers. This was reported by the Russian edition Kommersant with reference to Association of European Businesses data for the results of the three quarters.
Most foreign brands have stopped replenishing warehouses.
Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia fell by 59.6% in September to 46.7 thousand units. This statistic does not include reports from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Chery with its Exeed marque – they only report quarterly.
In addition, in nine months, sales decreased by 59.8%, to 506.7 thousand units.
Sales of cars under the Lada brand in September even showed an increase of 20%, up to 20.6 thousand units.
Lada Granta is the only offer in the segment of mass budget cars in the Russian Federation. Only this model reached 13.4 thousand cars in a month.
The Chinese Changan also came out in positive territory – an increase of 74%, to 789 units.
Chinese Haval showed a slight decrease in sales – by 2%, to 3.4 thousand vehicles.
It should be noted that a meme about a white Lada appeared in Ukraine due to the Kremlin propaganda narrative that the families of Russians who died in Ukraine were “compensated” for the damage of cars of this brand.
The head of the Nikolaev OVA, Vitaliy Kim, in one of his videos appealed to the occupiers with a call to sell Russian armored vehicles to Ukraine. According to him, “it is better not to buy a Lada at a funeral, but to sell us the equipment, stay alive, return home” and buy this car there.
In addition, Western media reported that Russia has shifted workers working there in defense production to a 12-hour workday. They can now also work eight-hour shifts on Saturdays.
