A delay in the fertilizer procurement process led the government to announce the delivery of Fertiabono, a cash aid for small farmers to purchase fertilizer. But is the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Land Reclamation (Midagri) will there be a continuation with the acquisition of urea?
During the last Ministerial Council conference, the head of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers (PMC), Anibal Torres, assured that the tender was still open.
“We must recognize that in acquiring urea there were failures, since they remained without effect (tenders) up to three times (…) probably the urea will arrive in the month of September. There are versions that this tender will also fall, but the last one will not fall”
The premier now indicates that urea could be delivered in September, despite the fact that the last selected company offered to supply the first batch of carbamide within 44 days, that is, if the contract is signed now, the fertilizer will arrive only in October.
“I apologize to the farmers, there are versions that this acquisition will fall out, so they are trying to criticize government. I think this latest acquisition will not go to waste,” added Torres.
For their part, Midagri notes that the process of buying and delivering urea is taken seriously and responsibly, and they have indicated that they will sign a contract with the winning company in the coming days to secure the 2022 agricultural campaign. 2023
According to their clarification, the ministry collects information about the winning supplier. good professional to verify that they comply with all requirements and recommendations made in a timely manner by the Office of Internal Control (OCI) Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
