SNRCU revised the terms of licensed operation of power units 1 and 2.
The State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation banned the launch of the first and second power units of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, according to the regulator’s website on Friday, August 19.
According to the order, the operation of power unit No. 1 is carried out in the states of “fuel refueling” – “cold shutdown”. The order also specified that the operation of power unit No. 2 of Zaporizhzhya NPP is carried out in a state of cold shutdown.
The reason for making the changes is the statement of Energoatom and the documents submitted with it, as well as the Resolution of the Board of the State Nuclear Regulatory Commission dated August 4 On the current state of safety of power units of the Zaporizhzhya NPP in the working conditions of the military of the Russian Federation.
The states of operation of power units No. 1 and No. 2 of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, determined by the order, is optimal in the conditions of the occupation of the Zaporozhye NPP by Russian troops.
Earlier, SINRU warned that the closure of the ZNPP could lead to an accident similar to the Japanese nuclear power plant Fukushima-1 in 2011.
It was also reported that the invaders were preparing a fake operation to accuse Ukraine of attacking the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
