From the early days of the invasion of Ukraine, it became clear to Nokia that a further presence in Russia was impossible.
Finnish telecommunications company Nokia has ceased its activities in Russia. It was reported on its website on Tuesday, April 12th.
“From the early days of the Ukraine invasion, it was clear to Nokia that a continued presence in Russia was not possible. In recent weeks, we have suspended deliveries, halted new business and moved our limited R&D activities to outside Russia, “the statement said.
It was noted that “for humanitarian reasons” Western governments have expressed concern about the risk of failure of critical telecommunications network infrastructures in Russia.
“Therefore, when we exit, we will strive to provide the necessary support for network maintenance and will apply for appropriate licenses to provide this support in accordance with current sanctions,” the company said.
Nokia added that in 2021 Russia will account for less than 2% of the company’s net sales.
Note that more than 600 large foreign companies left Russia because of the war unleashed against Ukraine.
And by the end of March, it was found out that in Russia was officially allowed to steal intellectual property. The country’s authorities hope that it will guarantee the import of goods into the Russian Federation “despite the unfriendly actions of foreign politicians.”
