For importers, they plan to impose a fee of 10% for foreign exchange transactions for the purchase of goods and services.
The bill developed by the government provides for the introduction of a 10% fee for the purchase of foreign currency by importers. The details of the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers were announced on Wednesday, August 3, by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who is the deputy head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
“It should be noted here that the chosen concept does not provide additional import duties (which are difficult to manage), but provides for the introduction of a 10% fee for foreign exchange transactions for the purchase of all that -imported goods and services,” explained the town representative.
According to him, the purpose of the bill is not only to increase budget revenues, but also to reduce the demand for imported goods and services among Ukrainians and, accordingly, the pressure on international reserves and the stability of the Hryvnia.
The People’s Deputy added that the Cabinet of Ministers will submit the bill to Parliament in the coming weeks.
Earlier, Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko announced that the Cabinet of Ministers is developing an additional duty on imports.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Finance announced a sharp reduction in the state budget deficit – in July it reached UAH 4.8 billion against UAH 134.9 billion in June. Since the beginning of the year, the deficit has reached UAH 412 billion.
