In connection with a possible gas deficiency, Putin suggested to move to coal, whose reserves, according to him, “have been about a thousand years.”
Having the world’s largest gas reserve of over 60 trillion cubic meters, Russia can find a gas deficiency. This was revealed by the head of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, informing TMT.
“We have a gas deficiency,” Putin said. He added that there are other questions that require “special attention.” – “We have no formations between the various components of energy infrastructure, we need the network economy development,” he listed.
In connection with a possible gas deficiency, Putin suggested to move to coal, the reserves of which, according to him, “are nearly a thousand years old.”
According to him, signs of gas deficiency have been noted in the Far East.
“Sometimes it is difficult to ensure that the supply of new businesses,” the Kremlin’s owner explained, added that in the coming years, a “multiple demand growth” for gas is predicted in the Far Eastern Federal District.
According to the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Russia currently has 63.4 trillion cubic meters of gas reserve, which should be sufficient for 100 years of labor. The room of the accounts in 2020 estimated the Russian reserve to 20% of the world, but warned that they were only enough for 50 years. Whereas high reserves of “dry gas” (almost pure methane) – “significantly less than usual.”
Gas in Russia decreases after the start of the war against Ukraine, cutting the Gazprom from the main market in Europe. If the 762.8 billion cubic meters were obtained in 2021, then in 2022 only 673.8 billion. In 2023, the production fell to 638 billion cubic meters – the lowest level in six years. Last year, it rose to 685 billion cubic meters, but remained 10% lower than the pre -war level.
The Gazprom, which has lost more than half of exports, has pledged to send excess gas to Russian consumers. The country’s entire gasification must be completed by 2030, promising two years ago at a meeting with Putin the head of the company Alexei Miller. Meanwhile he reported that by the 2026 35 regions of the Russian Federation were completely gasified.
By the end of 2024, the level of gasification in Russia was 74.7%, which was calculated in the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. According to the State Energy Development Program, in 2025 it should grow to 75%, by 2026 – up to 75.8%, and by 2027 – up to 76.7%.
