Phase 2, which includes Sector E1, will build a general aviation hangar (a place used to store and maintain aircraft), as well as fuel supply and wastewater treatment stations. The extension is 875,518 m2.
Sectors E4 and E9 are located on the 3rd turn, with an area of 980,750 m2 and 2450 m2, respectively. At these points, concrete and asphalt plants will be installed, work will begin on the formation of roads along the perimeter and internal entrances will be made to begin construction of taxiways.
At milestone 4, sectors E6 and E7 are located, with an area of 463,972 m2 and 318,290 m2, respectively. Here internal entrances will be built to start the construction of the runway and taxiways.
Chinchero Consortium delivered 6 months ago to the BTC sectors E2 and E3 (stage 1), which cover an area of 36 ha. An airport terminal will soon be built on this space.
When the infrastructure of the new airport is ready, it will be able to receive up to 5.7 million passengers a year, and flights will be operated from South America. This project is estimated to require an investment of over S$2.4 billion.
The legislator said that economic interests are behind the project, approved at the insistence of the plenary session of the parliament. On the other hand, MP Alex Paredes of the ruling Magisterial Bloc justified his group’s support for the project’s persistence despite the government’s compliance with the law.
