The delay in economic restrictions against the Serbian company will last another month.
The United States has postponed sanctions against Serbia’s oil and gas company in the sixth time, owned by Russia. It was said by Serbia Dubravka Jedovich Khandanovich’s Minister Khandanovich on Wednesday, August 27, reports Reuters.
The delay will be valid until 26th of September.
“The goal is to exclude the NIS from the list of penalties by the US Department of Finance (OFAC) foreign assets,” the minister mentioned the Reuters.
OFAC first imposed sanctions against Gazprom oil And its subsidiaries on January 10, giving the company 45 days to remove from NIS shareholders.
The NIS, in which Gazprom oil belongs to 44.9%, Gazprom is 11.3%, and the Serbian government – 29.9%, operates a single oil refinery in the city of Panechevo near Belgrade.
Remember that in July the United States promised that the last time they postponed sanctions against the Serbian oil company NIS.
As we wrote in April, the Serbian oil company NIS, most of the packages of shares belonging to the Russian Gazprom, has actually lost the opportunity to provide oil in the Serbian market due to US sanctions. NIS is one of the last Russian oil assets in Europe.
