“This year, more than five thousand hectares of watermelons and melons were planted in the Poltava region. Thus, the region took place first in Ukraine in the area of growing melons,” the publication said.

In the region, two thousand hectares were planted with watermelons compared to last year. However, the gathering of melons is expected at the level of last year – about 80 kg/ha.

The yield of melons is influenced by cold spring. Due to adverse weather conditions in the spring, mass terms ripening and collection of fruits moved by two weeks. It is noted that the fruits will begin to rip a lot from the second half of August.

“Up to the 90s, according to climatic conditions, this region is not suitable for Bakhchevs. It is difficult to grow. And it is possible to grow only one semi -partnic procedure, and now there is less and less rainy season.
