The volume of gold purchases of the population in 2025 was reduced by 2320.9 ounces (about 72.18 kg). In the first five months of last year, the population bought 9715 ounces of gold at banks for $ 21.59 million. The volume of gold sales in banks reached 13.4 thousand ounces (41.67 kg) worth $ 29.59 million.
Generally, in 2024, Ukrainians bought 21.55 thousand gold ounces at banks worth $ 51.07 million. The volume of gold sales by the population reached 25.13 thousand ounces worth $ 58.8 million.
It was noted that the Ukrainians began to actively buy gold when the prices for it went up. At the same time, in 2024, in a sharp jump in prices, the volume of gold sales by the population exceeded its purchase volume.
Due to the growth of gold prices in 2024-2025, Ukraine’s international reserves increased by more than $ 1 billion.
Remember that gold became the second most popular owner in the international reserves of World Central Banks in 2024, which exceeded the Euro. Over the past three years, central banks have accumulated more than 1000 tons of gold.
