The platform does not fulfill the requirements for reducing risks, does not change the content without being good and poorly punished by violators, the European Commission said.
The European Commission completed a preliminary investigation against Aliexpress and announced serious violations of digital platform policies. This is stated on the European Commission’s website.
The Chinese Aliexpress platform violates the EU Act of Digital Services (DSA), in particular, in terms of circulation of illegal goods – drugs, additives, content for adults, the EC said.
Aliexpress, in particular, does not fulfill the requirements for assessing and reducing risks, does not change the content properly and do not properly punish the violators.
Discovery systems of malicious content are recognized as ineffective and thus sellers allow the rules to miss.
Aliexpress had earlier taken the obligations: to strengthen the moderation and make the recommendations clearer. Violations mean automatic DSA violations with subsequent fine.
The maximum penalty for large platforms can reach up to 6% annual global shifts. Aliexpress has the right to defense and may challenge the conclusions of the commission.
As we have already written, the China company bytedance LTD, which is the Tiktok Maternal Company, is a wife to the European Union for more than 500 million euros for the illegal transfer of European users to China.
