European Union tariffs from July 1 will expand all agricultural products from Russia.
The Rada of the European Union has approved new tariffs for agricultural products and fertilizers from Russia and Belarus, which is not under further functions. This was announced by the EU Council’s press service on June 12.
The purpose of the steps is to reduce the hope of European countries in Russian and Belarusian imports and reduce the budget revenue of the Russian Federation and the ability to supply war against Ukraine. In addition, it should stimulate production within the EU.
“Compliance with tariffs will be carefully monitored to ensure the protection of the European fertilizer industry and agricultural manufacturers. Increasing fertilizers will occur a little, with three transition periods,” the report said.
EU tariffs from July 1 will be applied to all agricultural products from Russia.
Categories that fell under new tariffs occupy nearly 15% of total agricultural imports from Russia to EU to 2023.
As for fertilizers from Russia, in 2023 the category, where duties were applied, worth 25% of imports in this area – about 3.6 million tons worth 1.28 billion euros.
