Index growth is positively influenced by the vibrant consumer demand, a stable energy situation, receiving international financial assistance and timely factors.
The Index of expectations of business activity (iodine) of the Ukrainian business in May exceeded the neutral level and grew to 50.8, compared to 49.4 in April 2025. It was announced by the National Bank, conducting the said monthly survey.
“For the first time since May 2024, the businesses of all sectors participating in National Bank polls are expected to grow,” the report said.
The survey was attended by 565 businesses of various sizes and areas of activity conducted from May 5 to 23, 2025.
It is noted that the index of business activity expectations can range from 0 to 100. The level above 50 means improvement or growth compared to last month, and the higher the index deviation from level 50, the higher the rate of changes.
Index growth is positively influenced by the vibrant consumer demand, a stable energy situation, the receipts of international financial assistance and arrow -time factors.
Preventing the flow of important things that is critical, course expectations and inflation, as well as the lack of qualified personnel, remains to prevent factors.
According to the sectors, the best results were shown by construction companies with an index of 51.5, which the most -optimistic appreciation of their prospects thanks to sustainable internal demand.
As for price expectations, most sectors are set up for moderate increases in prices, other than construction, which is expected to speed up. In terms of work, estimates are different: builders plan to increase staff, while other sectors are expecting a reduction in the number of employees.
Remember that the Fitch Ratings International Agency has worsened forecasts for the growth of the Ukrainian economy and predicts high inflation.
As reported, in Ukraine in January-April of 2025 81,928 individual entrepreneurs opened, 9% less than the same period last year. At the same time, 119,895 entrepreneurs stopped their activities – 44% more than last year.
