This will strengthen regional energy security in conditions of Russia’s armed invasion, NKRECP said.
The national commission, which conducts state regulation in the field of energy and utility (NKRECP), has simplified gas transportation to Ukraine through the transbalkan corridor. It was announced on Tuesday, May 27.
“This decision provides for a single auction for the distribution of capacities at all points of the transbalkan corridor along the route for transportation of natural gas from Greece to Ukraine – nearly 3 million cubic meters per day (or about 1 billion cubic meters per year – ed.), The report said.
NKRECP has decided to coordinate the provision of GTS by the Ukraine operator with a joint product of transportation services including gas delivery operators: Bulgartransgaz, Greece (Desfa SA in), Moldova (Vestmoldtransgaz SRL) and Romania (Transgaz to).
Such a step will help to increase the attractiveness of the Ukrainian natural gas market, as well as to expand the possibilities of diversity of supplies. This, in turn, will strengthen the region’s energy security in the conditions of the Russian Federation’s armed invasion, the NKRECP noted.
Meanwhile. At the same time, the route passes through five countries, and the direct use of adjustable tariffs is made of commercial impairment compared to successors.
Due to the situation, GTS operators have worked a -optimize solution that, in particular, will allow, in particular, to use uneven transbalkan pipeline capacities to import gas in Ukraine in a competitive taraps, which is especially relevant during preparation for the next season.
The transbalkan corridor is a major gas pipeline that has previously been used to supply Russian gas to the balks. In 2019, part of its infrastructure in Turkey and Bulgaria was included in the Balkan stream gas pipeline.
Remember that in December 2024, Ukraine first received liquid natural gas from the United States through Greece. The batch of nearly 100 million cubic meters of gas or 1 TVT-H energy on Gaslog Board Savannah came to LNG Terminal Revitus.
