The signing ceremony took place in Doha with the participation of the US president and Emir Katar Tamim Ben Hamad Al Tanya.
During US president Donald Trump’s visit to Qatar, National Airline Qatar Airways signed the largest contract in Boeing history for the supply of extensive aircraft. Reuters reported it.
The company made an order for 160 aircraft and received an option for another 50 sides. The total transaction amount is $ 96 billion.
The transaction provides for 130 Boeing 787 aircraft and 30 new Boeing 777x, which is equipped with GE aerospace engines. For Boeing 787 Qatar Airways, I chose GenX Production GE instead of the Trent 1000 from Rolls-Royce. Model 777x has the only option – GE9X.
The contract was signed with the presence of Trump, Emir Katar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Tanya, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and Qatar Airways Head Badra Mohammed Al-Mira.
According to the head of the White House, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, who signed a deal with the general director of Qatar Airways by Badrom Mohammed Al-Mir, noted: “This is the largest aircraft order in Boeing history, and this is good.”
Earlier, many American media reported that the Trump administration was preparing to receive as a gift from the Royal Katar Katar Boeing-747-8 family for use as an aircraft (Air Force One), which led to dissatisfaction with some U.S. lawmakers.
However, the US Embassy later said in the United States that the issue of such a gift is still considered.
